The Kruger National Park spans Mpumalanga and Limpopo. To the west of the Kruger National Park, large sections of land have been preserved as game lodges and ranches of different calibres. Manyeleti, in the grim days of apartheid, was the “black section” of Kruger and still offers some very affordable options as well as some highly luxurious ones. Motswari and Ngala are among the well-known lodges in the Timbavati, whereas the Olifants and Balule reserves offer share-block ownership as well as some exclusive camps. The Timbavati alone consists of 53 400 hectares of land with no internal fences, bordering on the Kruger National Park, and is home to 40 mammal species and 350 different birds.
